By the time Thanksgiving hits, your calendar fills up fast, holiday parties, family photos, work events, New Year’s Eve. The problem is that most skin treatments need time to show results, and downtime that felt fine in the summer suddenly feels a lot less convenient when you have three events in one week.

October is the sweet spot. It’s early enough to give treatments time to work, and late enough that results are still fresh when the holidays actually arrive. Here’s how to plan your holiday skin prep timeline at Simply Radiant, working backward from the season you’re actually prepping for.

Why October Is the Real Starting Line

Most aesthetic treatments fall into one of two categories: things that show results almost immediately, and things that need weeks or months to fully develop. If you only book the fast stuff, you’re limiting your options. If you wait too long to book the slower treatments, you’ll be showing up to holiday events mid-recovery instead of glowing.

Starting in October gives you roughly eight to ten weeks before the holiday season ramps up, enough runway to layer treatments strategically instead of cramming everything into early December.

The Timeline: What to Book, and When

October: Start With Anything That Needs Downtime or Time to Build

This is the month for treatments you don’t want to be recovering from right before an event:

  • Laser resurfacing (Halo, Moxi, BBL Hero): These treatments improve tone, texture, and pigment, but involve several days of visible peeling or redness. October gives skin plenty of time to fully heal and reveal results before December
  • Microneedling: Builds collagen gradually and typically involves a few days of mild redness. Multiple sessions spaced weeks apart work best when started now
  • Chemical peels (deeper types): Similar logic, flaking and redness need time to resolve
  • Sculptra: If you haven’t already started your Sculptra series (ideally begun in September), October is your last reasonable window to fit in enough sessions before the holidays

November: Lower-Downtime Refinement

By November, you’re refining rather than starting from scratch:

  • Botox and Dysport: Botox takes 3-7 days to start working and up to two weeks for full effect, with no real downtime. Booking in November means you’re smooth and settled well before December events, not still waiting for results during the week of a party
  • Dermal fillers (lips, cheeks, jawline): Immediate results with mild swelling that resolves in a few days. November is ideal, so any swelling is long gone before December photos
  • Light chemical peels and facials: Great for a quick glow with minimal recovery

Early December: Maintenance Only

By this point, you’re not starting anything new, you’re maintaining what you’ve already built:

  • Facials for hydration and glow
  • Touch-up Botox if you started early and want to extend results through New Year’s
  • Skincare consultations for at-home products to keep skin looking its best through the season

Why the Order Matters

Layering treatments in the wrong order backfires. Booking a Halo laser treatment the week before a big event means showing up mid-peel instead of glowing. Starting Botox too late means you’re still waiting for it to kick in when the photos get taken. The October start gives every treatment enough runway to actually deliver before you need the results, not after.

Building Your Personalized Timeline

Not everyone needs the same treatments, and not everyone starts from the same place. Some patients are focused on texture and tone, others on volume and lines, and others just want a low-maintenance refresh before a specific event. At Simply Radiant, your treatment plan is built around:

  • What events or dates you’re prepping for
  • Whether you’re addressing texture, volume, tone, or all three
  • How much downtime you can realistically work around
  • Whether you’re new to a treatment or maintaining previous results

Peggy Pruchnicki, APRN, and the team at Simply Radiant will map out a realistic schedule during your consultation, including which treatments to prioritize first if your timeline is already tight.

Don’t Wait for the Holidays to Sneak Up on You

Every year, the same pattern happens: patients call in early December wanting laser treatments or filler results in time for an event that’s already a week away. October is when the good appointment slots are still wide open, and it’s when your skin has the best chance of actually being ready when the season arrives.
