The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states there are an average of 2.6 million dermal filler injections performed each year in the U.S. Fillers are the second most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure, offering the chance to regain lost facial volume and diminish many signs of aging.
At Simply Radiant, we offer a variety of fillers for face treatments so that you can get the personalized results you want. Read more below about the best fillers for face treatments.
What Are Dermal Face Fillers?
Dermal face fillers are injectables that add volume under the skin. This added volume smooths out wrinkles while also restoring plumpness, making your skin look more youthful.
In your youth, your body produces high levels of two important proteins: elastin and collagen. These proteins give your skin its youthful firmness, hydration, and elasticity. As you age, however, the production of these proteins decreases. This means that your skin loses flexibility and volume, leading to wrinkles.
Face fillers provide the volume necessary to diminish the appearance of those wrinkles and fine lines. Most people use face fillers for the following cosmetic benefits:
- Adding volume
- Adding symmetry to features
- Plumping up cheeks and lips
- Smoothing creases, fine lines, and wrinkles
The best candidates for fillers are people who are physically healthy, have realistic expectations, and are not allergic to any of the filler ingredients. People who have excessive skin laxity, who have allergies, or who have active infections may not be the best candidates for dermal face fillers.
Types of Fillers for Face Treatments
At our med spa, we offer a few different face fillers to help you achieve the results you are looking for.
Restylane
One of the most popular fillers for face treatments we offer is Restylane. Restylane is a filler made from hyaluronic acid that works to reduce the appearance of wrinkles while also adding volume. It is a good option for targeting lines around the mouth, adding volume to your cheeks, and even minimizing dark under-eye circles.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring acid in your body. It clings to your skin while the water in the acid gives volume and attracts more water, preserving volume for longer lengths of time.
Radiesse
We also offer Radiesse face fillers. What makes Radiesse so unique is that it contains calcium hydroxyapatite gel microspheres. These gel microspheres work to stimulate your body’s collagen production while still offering the kind of immediate volume you want from a face filler.
Because of the way Radiesse stimulates collagen production, people can enjoy results for more than a year.
Revanesse Versa
Revanesse Versa fillers use hyaluronic acid to offer volume while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is a long-lasting filler that uses the highest quality hyaluronic acid available.
Benefits of Face Fillers
Face fillers are minimally invasive, allowing you to get excellent results without undergoing surgical procedures or having to go through a long recovery period. They can also offer long-lasting results, with some options lasting a year or longer.
It is easy to combine other kinds of cosmetic procedures with face fillers. Many of our clients combine fillers with neurotoxin injectables like Botox for the best results, especially if they have wrinkles in multiple areas that fillers alone can’t diminish.
Face fillers are not permanent, however, so you can try them out and see if you like the results.
How to Prepare for Face Fillers
We ask that you schedule a consultation with us so we can see the areas you would like to treat and also get your full medical history. Tell us about the experiences you may have had with other fillers and whether you take any medications or supplements.
At least a week before the injections, we recommend you stop taking blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E.
Two days before your appointment, avoid certain topical products like retinoids, glycolic acid, and other anti-aging options. You also want to avoid waxing, tweezing, bleaching, or using hair removal creams in the treatment areas. The day before your appointment, don’t drink alcohol.
Treatment Day and Results
We ask that you come to your appointment without wearing makeup and with a clean face. We may apply a topical anesthetic, and you can always ask for one if you feel you need it.
We will then inject the filler using a very thin needle. Depending on the number of treatment areas, the procedure can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.
After the injections, you can apply an ice pack as needed, but there is no real downtime to worry about. Remember not to scratch, rub, or massage the injection sites so that you don’t spread the filler. Wait at least a few hours to apply makeup.
Some people start seeing results right away after the injections, while others may have to wait a couple of days. Depending on the type of filler you receive, you may enjoy the results for up to a year.
