How Long Do Face Fillers Last: Timeframes & Post-Care Instructions

At Simply Radiant, we are familiar with the concerns that lead many of our patients to seek out facial filler treatments that can help resolve sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. While these are normal effects of maturing skin, we can support the aging process by providing treatments that can revitalize your appearance and even stimulate more collagen.

Our services in Las Vegas, NV, include a variety of face fillers that can address many of the aesthetic concerns that you have regarding your face. With popular products such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, along with cutting-edge products such as Sculptra® and Radiesse®, we can find something that will perfectly suit your goals for your appearance. We will discuss all of these facial fillers while giving you clarity about expected timeframes and post-care instructions.

What Are Face Fillers and How Do They Work?

Face fillers, also known as injectable fillers or dermal fillers, are products that are designed to be injected under the skin. The aim of these products is either to provide instant volume through gel-like products that sit beneath the skin, or gradual volume through bio-stimulating products that work with your body’s healing processes to gain more natural volume over time.

These products are non-surgical options that come with very little downtime, are relatively pain-free, and are fast and easy treatments. With facial fillers, no one needs to know that you have had a cosmetic treatment because the results are subtle, natural-looking, and still look like you.

Different Types of Face Fillers and Their Expected Result Timeframes

There are two main categories of facial fillers available. The first is the hyaluronic acid filler, which is made from a slippery synthetic material called hyaluronic acid. This clear gel is present in a natural form in your body at all times, helping to keep your skin healthy and moisturized and helping your joints to stay lubricated. These fillers provide immediate volume right where they are injected.

The second type of injectable product that can provide facial volume restoration is known as a biostimulator. This type of product stimulates natural reactions within your body that lead to beneficial and volume-inducing results, such as collagen and elastin production. These products are made from a variety of biocompatible ingredients, such as poly-L-lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite. Here are some of the products that can rejuvenate your appearance.

The JUVÉDERM Collection

JUVÉDERM offers a full menu of hyaluronic acid fillers that can add volume. While each unique product has its own formulation that is either thicker and more robust for substantial volume and contouring or thinner for more subtle applications, all of the products in the JUVÉDERM family have a smooth consistency that allows them to look and behave very naturally under the skin. JUVÉDERM fillers can treat lips, cheeks, jawline, chin, under the eyes, and nasolabial folds. The expected result duration for these fillers is between one and two years, depending on the product.

Revanesse® Versa™

Another brand of hyaluronic acid filler, Revanesse Versa has a unique manufacturing process that causes all the HA particles to be uniform in size. This creates a product that is even smoother and can be injected with a great degree of precision. It is particularly effective for the correction of facial wrinkles and creases. Results from this treatment can last up to 12 months, depending on the patient.

Restylane

Restylane offers a thicker, more granular formulation that many people love for its stability once injected. It can provide excellent contouring for the cheeks and other areas, while thinner formulations are perfect for use in softer areas such as the lips. It is also one of the few dermal fillers that offers a product that can be used to restore volume in the hands. Restylane products last anywhere from six months to 18 months in most patients.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a dermal filler and a biostimulator that is made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a carrier gel. The gel offers immediate volume similar to the effects of hyaluronic acid, but the star of this treatment is the microspheres. This ingredient remains in the skin even after the carrier gel has been absorbed and over the next 15 months, the average duration of results, the product continues to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. The result is long-lasting volume that comes from within your own body.

Sculptra

Sculptra is also a biostimulator that can help to restore healthy collagen fibers in the treatment area. Most commonly used for nasolabial folds, Sculptra can provide some of the longest-lasting results of all of the facial rejuvenation treatments we offer. Patients see rejuvenating effects for two years or more after a round of three treatments.

Post-Care Instructions for Face Filler Treatments

While these products all come with short recovery times, we will give you some post-care instructions to follow to help you get the best results possible. You should avoid strenuous activities that come with a lot of sun or heat. Additionally, you will want to avoid the consumption of alcohol to minimize bruising and keep your face clean and hydrated. You should use gentle products that don’t include alcohol in the ingredient list, and avoid facials, facial massage, or itching your injection sites.
